PM Engage is a platform that presents an opportunity for the PGP1, PGP2 & PGPX students from our listed B-Schools to get mentored by Microsoft Program Managers by signing up for a virtual Mentorship and compete in our flagship case study competition - PM Challenge.

We are accepting separate teams for PGP1 & PGP2/PGPX. Check the eligibility for PGP2/PGPX participation from your B-School before applying.


Eligibility - Meet our QIA criteria (Qualified - current MBA student from our listed B-School, Interested in the PM Role with Microsoft, Available to intern with Microsoft next summer/work with Microsoft as an FTE)

Mentorship & Case Study Competition

Top 3 Teams from PGP1 & Top 2 teams from PGP2/PGPX/1-Year MBA with exceptional case study proposals from your campus will get shortlisted for mentorship.


Top team will compete in the PM Challenge final round.

Program Guidelines

Program Manager @ Microsoft

As the in-house advocate for the millions of people worldwide who use Microsoft products, you drive the vision, design, implementation and market success of next-generation software solutions.
As the owner and advocate of your product components, some of the questions which you would be addressing through your role are:

  • It's all about the Customer

    Who is the customer? What customer problem am I addressing?

  • Desiging a Product

    What product solution do I craft to address this gap?

  • Cutomer Experience

    How do I deliver the best customer experience possible?

Program Manager
  • Best Product Solution

    Does the product solution meet the business need (revenue, brand, etc.)?

  • Design, Develop, Deploy

    How do I take the product from conceptualization to launch?

  • Team Work

    How do I work with marketing, and various sales channels to drive adoption?

Roles & Responsibilities

The role entails the following three distinct aspects:

Defining and executing product strategy and roadmap

Defining who the product is for, identifying the fundamental problem that we are solving, understanding the competition, and our core positioning w.r.t to the competition, identifying our approach to the market and partnerships.


Building the Product

Lots of whiteboarding, storyboarding, sketching and designing, iterating with engineering on tradeoffs between priority/timelines/capabilities, partnering across teams in Microsoft to deliver the solution, performing usability studies, planning versions, legal, marketing, monetization plans etc.


Connecting with the customer

Evangelizing the product through customer connect, being the ‘face’ of the product, experimentation, and data analysis, iterating on feedback and learnings.

  • Utilize learnings from the PM workshop held by Microsoft at your campus.
